Introduction - The Bachelor of Commerce degree is designed to provide the student with a wide range of managerial skills while at the same time building competence in a particular area of business studies; see below. Most universities therefore plan the degree such that additional to their major, students are exposed to general business principles, taking courses in accounting/finance, human resources, statistics, marketing, economics, and information systems.

Eligibility - A candidate for B Com Degree Course shall have passed the Pre University Examination or equivalent 12 Standard Examination of any other

Board having Business Studies and Accountancy as subjects of study.

All Compulsory Subjects with following optional in second and third year:
Cost and Management Accounting
Human Resource Management and Marketing

Financial management and Computer Application

*English is Compulsory
The Second language is an Indian language.

Introduction - The Master of Commerce program offers a pathway to PhD study. Students with little background in commerce can still reach an advanced level of academic study. The program provides an advanced and in-depth level of study in one or more business or commerce disciplines, such as accounting, finance or business information systems.

The program is taught by research active academic staff. Students are exposed to professional and scholarly academic research in commerce, enhancing their academic competence. Students are also able to acquire research skills in commerce and to undertake independent research.

Eligibility - Candidates shall have passed the three year B.Com/B.B.M/B.B.A Degree Examination of Mangalore University considered as equivalent thereto provided they have obtained not less than 45% (40% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate excluding language subjects.

Those candidates who already possess a Master Degree in any subjects and apply for admission to Masters Degree in Commerce shall be eligible for admission only after all other eligible candidates have been considered.

Employment Opportunities - Graduates of the Master of Commerce are eligible to apply for entry to Doctor of Philosophy (Commerce) program.

Graduates of the Master of Commerce also develop high-level technical, analytical and communication skills which are in high demand in all industries.

Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to:

Exercise independent judgment to evaluate business problems in complex contexts using social, ethical, economic, regulatory and global perspectives. Integrate advanced theoretical and technical knowledge in business which includes a selection of issues in accounting, auditing and assurance, finance, economics, quantitative methods, information systems, commercial law, corporation law, taxation law and research methods in business related disciplines.

Critically apply theoretical, technical knowledge and research-based skills to evaluate and solve emerging and advanced business problems, and to conduct a research-based project.

Justify and communicate ideas in collaborative contexts, including interpretation and communication of theoretical issues to both specialist and non-specialists audience in business related disciplines.

Seek and reflect on performance feedback to identify and action learning opportunities and self-improvements and initiate this process for others.
